Reviews and Impressions

Saving Content: "This is a challenging, but incredibly fun game... This game does not disappoint. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good challenge, anyone interested about climate change, or anyone who wants to save the world." 5/5

Paste Magazine: "All told, Fate of the World is an excellent game and perhaps an even better educational tool; its sink-or-swim approach to teaching really worked for me. Rare is the game that sticks with its players after they've finished it. Even rarer, however, is a game that could very well make an impact on the rest of someone's life. With Fate of the World, I feel like I've found just that." - 8.9/10

Eurogamer: "Fate of the World is never anything less than compelling... When something turns to crap, the urge is not to sullenly admit defeat but fight to fix it. When you lay down a card, you lay down your hopes and fears. When you pore over the graphs, you're a detective looking for clues to solve the world's biggest crime." - 8/10

Rock Paper Shotgun: "Five hours spent playing Fate of the World is not only a good time, it leaves you with astonishing amounts of information about combating climate change, and if you went all-out and read all of the encyclopedia entries as you went along I cannot imagine learning any faster with a flesh-and-blood teacher lecturing you on the subject and setting homework."

Duelshockers.com: "It’s one of those few brilliant games that accurately depicts the notion that you’ll feel the effects of a choice you made early in the game, whether you like it or not, and for better or for worse. In that sense, it might be the best educational game I’ve ever played; it gives the player a very real, very mature perspective on the decisions they make, and perhaps even teaches them to sympathize with the many tough decisions our current leaders and authority figures have to make as well." - 8/10

MyGaming: "Fate of the World is a deep and rich strategy management sim. It is inherently challenging, and that’s the way it should be – nobody said that saving the Earth was going to be easy. Despite the difficulty of doing things perfectly, it is still accessible. Fate of the World has a compelling story to tell through its gameplay that many would do well to pay attention to."

Nik Davidson (game designer LOTR online): 'The Most Important Game I’ve Ever Played' - "We’re in the throes of a reactionary mood swing in this country, and I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who will attack the entire premise of the game as unfounded. Even if you’re among them, I’d recommend this as a excellent strategy game. But for those that acknowledge that resource management, population, and environmental issues are likely to define our world for the next two centuries, I unreservedly suggest that you take a stab at saving the world. I haven’t had much success yet. Getting some practice in before we have to do it for real seems pretty smart to me."
